A superior benefits and rewards program is an essential part of our commitment to our employees.
On May 19, 2016, Nomura Holdings acquired a non-controlling 41% economic interest in American Century Investments®. This expands the opportunities for each firm to reach new clients and provide a broader range of solutions to serve our investors' strategic interests.
Founded in 1925, Nomura Holdings is a financial services group headquartered in Asia, offering an integrated global network spanning 30 countries. Nomura services the needs of individuals, institutions, corporations and governments through four business divisions:
Driven by the insights of nearly 28,000 employees, Nomura puts clients at the center of everything they do, focusing on long-term partnerships and customized capabilities. Specializing in Japanese and Asian equities, they also manage competitive product categories such as high-yield bonds, absolute return strategies, smart beta and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Given the minimal overlap between American Century Investments' and Nomura's products and regional coverage, this thoughtful collaboration supports both firms' efforts to further diversify business interests globally and share our investment expertise for clients around the world. This includes leveraging Nomura's connections in Japan and Asia and American Century Investments' in the U.S.
Junko Nakagawa, CEO of Nomura Asset Management, and Jonathan Thomas, CEO of American Century Investments.
Building long-lasting client relationships and our dedication to delivering superior performance are key priorities for both American Century and Nomura. Whether designing tailored strategies or providing a comprehensive range of solutions and insights, we share a mandate to offer investments that align with our clients' needs.
James E. Stowers Jr., founder of American Century Investments, often said "If we help others become successful, they, in turn, will make us successful." This belief is similar to the founder of Nomura's "putting the customer first," and demonstrates our common values.
